We are a medium scale complex production facility located on a 5 acre site in Chicago Heights, Illinois.  We have proven capability in a broad array of chemical conversion types.   Among the practiced commercial chemistry are: condensation reactions, free radical polymerizations and Lewis acid alkylation reactions.  Long, Medium and Short oil alkyd resins, polyesters, expanded epoxies, acrylic resins, thermal-pressure addition resins, alkylation products graft copolymers, polyamide, polyketone, PF resins have been routinely manufactured at this location.  High viscosity or melting point resins are usually reduced to solutions in a broad variety of possible solvents,  custom formulated or as specified.  Letdown tanks provide capacity for further solvent reduction to 7,500 gallons.  Typical product packaging ranges from 55 gallon drums, bulk totes and bulk tank trucks.  

     Our external tank farm is dedicated to raw material storage and has a total capacity  of about 250m gallons.  Inside heated storage is provided by 20 x 6,000 gallon storage tanks.

     The reactors are 316 stainless steel and several are pressure rated.  Heating is provided by thermal transfer fluid exchange (T = 550 F max) and / or steam (250 – 270 F).  The overhead systems are fitted to return or remove vapor condensation with optional decanter separation or column assisted separation. 

     Reactor & system cooling are assisted by a 2.5 MBTUH evaporative tower system.

     All of the reactors are vacuum rated.  Vacuum is provided by a Stokes 3-stage vacuum pump system and capable of achieving a nominal pressure of 20 mm Hg.

     Our production scale ranges include:  laboratory synthesis to 5 liter, 55 gallon, 500 gallon, 1400 gallon and 3800 gallon capacities.  

Modern, safe and efficient process control is accomplished by Intellution 7.0 custom software and Allen-Bradley controls.

     Test marketing, development of production engineering data, feasibility studies, custom development, laboratory to tank truck  scale production,  process and product trials are conveniently accomplished in a timely fashion at Polychem Services, Inc.  Our close relationship with Chemtech Services, INC. provides unique process and production expertise that expands our capability in service.  A new content management system will enable us to always keep you up to date.
